Farcical airport security
If ever you doubted that airport security is an hilarious farce, read this wonderful story about an adventure with the TSA screeners.

Harry,
I’ve been reading a bit of your blog this morning. I have to say, I LIKE YOUR THOUGHTS!!!!
I greatly appreciate it when I find out there are still people out there that value individual liberty and freedom, etc. Out of curiousity, have you ever read anything by Ayn Rand? If not, you should do. You would absolutely LOVE her philosophy (objectivism) and her writing. I suggest Anthem first, as it is an introduction to her philosophy and can be read within a few hours. Then, Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead.
Here are a few quotes from her:
We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission; which is the stage of the darkest periods of human history, the stage of rule by brute force.
Individual rights are not subject to a public vote; a majority has no right to vote away the rights of a minority; the political function of rights is precisely to protect minorities from oppression by majorities (and the smallest minority on earth is the individual).
The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.
The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.
It was nice to see you guys yesterday……

Was nice to see you too!
I’ve heard of Ayn Rand, but haven’t read her. I’ll check her out — the quote is certainly promising.
